Kettenburg Book Signing Set for Dec. 17 at San Diego Maritime Museum SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Maritime Museum will host a book signing with author Mark Allen, who chronicled the colorful history of Kettenburg boats in his new book, “Building Kettenburgs: Premier Boats Designed and Built in Southern California.”

Historian Iris Engstrand will give a one-hour presentation on Kettenburg’s history. Bill and Tom Kettenburg are also scheduled to appear.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at the San Diego Maritime Museum, 1492 N. Harbor Drive.

Coffee and dessert will be served. Reservations are required by Dec. 15.

Boat Auction Set for Alamitos Bay Marina, Dec. 20 LONG BEACH – Boaters looking for bargains will want to check out the Long Beach Marine Bureau boat auction at Alamitos Bay Marina, where a wide array of boats, dinghies and marine gear will be sold to the public on Dec. 20.

All items will be sold “as is, where is.” All sales are final, and full payment (in cash, by credit card or with a personal check) is due by noon on the day of the sale. Inspection and registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the auction will start at 9 a.m., at Alamitos Bay Marina, 205 Marina Drive. For more information, e-mail Kimarie_Vestre@longbeach.gov.
